The Edmonton Oilers announced that Evander Kane would be out for three to four months after he suffered from deep cuts in his wrist Tuesday night. The accident occurred in the second period after Kane collided with Tampa Bay Lightning’s Phillipe Myers inside the defensive zone.
While down on the ice, Tampa Bay’s Pat Maroon accidentally skated over Kane’s wrist. He went to the bench immediately before they took him to the hospital. He had surgery on the wrist and needs to wait for it to heal before he can play again.
According to a bookie pay per head source, Kane took to Twitter to thank everyone who sent their prayers and wishes. However, he added he was still in shock after the scary moment.

Maroon, who was the one who accidentally caused the injury, expressed his concern for the player’s well-being following Tuesday’s game by saying, “I hope he’s OK. When you glance down and see so much blood, you immediately realize something is wrong. So it should be no surprise that the lads are concerned about him. That is a terrifying predicament. You should never, under any circumstances, wish that upon any player in the League.”
According to bookie PPH reports, Kane signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers worth $20.5 million for four years after being released by the San Jose Sharks during the previous season. He has played in 13 games this season and has five goals and eight assists.
Sports news outlets stated the Oilers announced on Wednesday that Kane had been put on the long-term injured reserve list of the team. They promoted forwards Mattias Janmark and Klim Kostin from their Bakersfield Condors team that plays in the American Hockey League.
