DraftKings and Penn National Get Colorado Sports Betting Permits

Colorado is launching its sports betting on May 1. As we get closer to the date, the state regulator is approving more Colorado sports betting permits. Last Thursday, more companies received their permit to bring the total to a dozen operators since February.

Included in the latest batch of confirmations are DraftKings and Penn National. DraftKings got licenses for mobile sports betting and retail sportsbook. The company signed a deal with Twin River Worldwide Holdings Inc. to open a physical sportsbook at the Golden Mardi Gras casino. Once launched, Colorado will be the ninth state in which the daily fantasy sports provider will have operations.

Three casino operators got their sports betting licenses as well. They are Ameristar Casino, Isle Casino Hotel, and Lady Luck Casino. Penn National Gaming is the operator of the Ameristar Casino, while the Isle Casino Hotel is the only property the gaming firm owns in the state.

Those are the company’s only venues in Colorado. Thus, they increase Eldorado’s sports betting presence through the acquisition based on sportsbook pay per head reports.

Last month, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission gave out seven sports betting licenses to casinos in Cripple Creek, Central City, and Black Hawk. BookiePayPerHead.net learned that Colorado has more than 30 tribal and commercial casinos. All of them can apply for sports betting permits.

According to pay per head sportsbook reports, the CLGCC has more than 50 applications to go through. Also, the commission is considering giving licenses for vendors and payment providers connected to the sports wagering operations.

The regulator will meet again on March 19. Industry experts expect the regulator to approve more applications by then. Some of the operators waiting for their permits include Century Casinos and Full House.
