The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission approved five bookie operations in the state. As a result, several casinos will have their on-site sportsbooks. Also, the commission gave a unanimous vote for the approval during an online meeting last Thursday.

The commission approved the licenses for Barstool Sports, Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM, and TwinSpires. All the sportsbook operators have a partner casino within the state.

In an assertion, Lottery and Gaming Director John A. Martin recognized that the commission’s fundamental activities don’t resolve the focal test confronting firms hoping to dispatch sports wagering tasks in Maryland.

He highlighted the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission’s choice not to follow up on the five casinos’ applications on Wednesday.

According to gambling industry news, the SWARC seemed hesitant after a two-and-a-half-hour meeting on Wednesday that comprised, for the most of a shut entryway preparation from the head legal officer’s office.

The SWARC’s chairman Thomas Brandt Jr. asked his colleagues to provide their thoughts on their next steps. However, the members voted to request more data about the owners of the casinos. Also, the commission scheduled their next meeting on the subject for November 18.
