Rhode Island online gambling market launched last week. The Ocean State is now part of the list, including Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, and Michigan. In addition, Nevada legalizes online poker.

In 2018, the state allowed mobile sports betting, which coincided with the debut. Like Delaware, Rhode Island allows only a single operator in the gambling industry. In addition to Delaware, Bally’s now operates online casinos and sportsbooks in the state. According to gambling software experts, residents of Rhode Island can now legally use their smartphones and computers to wager on slot machines, live dealers, and table games.

According to pay per head sportsbook, a four-day technical trial was conducted before the launch starting on March 1. Bally’s claims to have over 170 online slot machines and table games available.

According to sportsbook pay per head reports, online poker was legalized under the bill, although Bally’s does not offer it now. The company announced a new poker product and took over operations in Delaware this year. At a total cost of $5.8 million ($3.3 million in cash and $2.5 million in stock), Bally’s bought Run It Once Poker from Phil Galfond in 2022. There will likely come a day when the business reintroduces that platform to the American market.

If other governments establish a joint liquidity market, they should include poker. With just over 1 million population, the state may need more residents to support a thriving in-state market.
