The Washington State Gambling Commission Thursday approved WA sports betting amendments to the gambling compacts with Native American tribes. Once signed by the governor, the tribes can offer sports wagering in their casinos.
The commissioners voted 7-0, with two commissioners excused. Thus, the amendments are on their way to Governor Jay Inslee’s office for his approval. It is the next step in the process of allowing sports wagering in tribal casinos. It came after the state legislature approved the amendments last year.
According to sports betting software reports, a total of 15 sports gambling amendments will head to the governor’s office. Once the governor approves the amendments, it will require the approval of the federal government.
WA Sports Betting Amendments
Several members of the tribes stated the financial benefits of gambling. Also, they said that sports betting would bring more revenues to support their social programs. Thus, they asked the commission to pass the amendments.
Once amendments get the final approval from the federal government, tribes need to find the best bookie software for their operations. They might want to consider why use a pay per head sportsbook.
The Tulalip Tribes told the commission that clans are the seventh-biggest employer in the state, with non-Indians making up 70% of the work power. They said sports wagering would make considerably more positions for Washingtonians. So while casinos have given a period of prosperity to tribes, there is still a lot of work left.
The Shoalwater Bay tribe said they need cash to move their members from off flood-inclined regions to higher ground. On the other hand, the Spokane Tribe said the extra money would help the tribe save its tribal language.
Individuals affirmed that tribes have a three-decade record of effectively offering betting in a protected environment. Also, the funds went to government programs instead of private investors. The Legislature dismissed endeavors by the proprietors of private card rooms in the state to offer sports wagering.
